Xscape is one music group from the 90's that many people have slept on. They were one of the best female groups out back then who could compete against any male group out there. These four gifted singers were sisters, LaTocha and Tameka Scott, with Kandi Burruss and Tameka "Tiny" Cottle. All four of these young ladies could sing separate or together, which was their most powerful vocal moments. These girls were so bad that they were sometimes referred to as the female Jodeci.
Now, true music lovers should know that Jodeci was a male R&B group who could sing so good that women were ready to do anything to get to them. Like Jodeci, Xscape dressed with thug appeal and sang with such amazement in their voices. However, the quartet contained a special essence, unlike any other group that was out in the 90's. They sang a variety of musical genres such as R&B, New Jack Swing and Soul, along with others as well. The one thing that many people noticed was the gospel-light style fused into their music.
The reason for gospel being brought into the Xscape mix is because sisters, Latocha and Tameka, were brought up in a religious household with their father being a preacher. Reverend Randolf Scott was also part of a music group in his younger days called The Scott Three. He instilled his musical talents into his daughters. They could straight blow, especially when it came down to killing high notes. Besides them, Kandi and TIny could also bring a song to life, because they were all blessed with unique voices.
